About Tartalo
Tartalo is a forum where people interested in the fantastic in the arts can meet to share information, resources, ideas, dreams and illusions. We have a transversal approach that aims to delve into those themes that refer us to the fantastic in the arts, being these understood in a broad way, covering architecture, sculpture, painting, music, literature (including poetry and theatre), performing arts (including dance, opera and circus), cinema, media arts (including radio, television and photography), comics, conceptual art, and technological arts (including new expressions linked to artificial intelligence and videogames).
This forum aims to be both academic and informative, and that is why researchers, academics, students, professionals and people who are passionate about the arts have a place in this space.
Function of the blog
Tartalo seeks the dynamism and usefulness of its content to generate academic debate, on the one hand, and to disseminate useful knowledge on the other in order to share information in a dynamic and attractive way. Therefore, having the blog linked to “Tartalo. Week of the Fantastic in the Arts” in general, and the international congress on “Myth in the Arts” in particular, it is a unique forum to achieve our purpose, being attractive without renouncing scientific rigour.

Our history
Tartalo was born in 2022 between Vitoria-Gasteiz and Madrid, Spain, on the occasion of “Tartalo. VII International Conference on Myth in the Arts”, an event that forms the backbone of the “Week of the Fantastic in the Arts in Vitoria-Gasteiz (Álava)”. The conference, hosted by the Faculty of Arts of the University of the Basque Country, is organised by two university research groups accredited by the Basque Government’s higher education system: “REWEST” (Department of English and German Philology, Translation and Interpretation, Faculty of Arts) and “AKMEKA” (Faculty of Fine Arts). The aim of the conference is to provide a forum to explore ancient, classical, modern and contemporary myths in all possible artistic fields -from literature, to music, to film, to performance art and virtual media, to name but a few- and from a wide variety of theoretical frameworks -Cultural Studies, Literary Studies, Gender Studies, Feminism/s, Masculinities, LGTBQ+ Studies, Postcolonial Studies, Ecocriticism, Disability Studies, Film Studies, Performative Studies, among others.
Thus, and given the specificity of the themes of both the conference on myth in the arts and the week on the fantastic in the arts, Tartalo emerges as a tailor-made suit in which, imperatively, a blog that also serves as a forum arises naturally.
Initially, Tartalo is a blog promoted and moderated by Dr. Ortega Ventureira, whose blogs Mistérica Land and Patrimonio Digital serve to nourish Tartalo with content in this initial phase. Dr. Montero Gilete accompanies him in this adventure as co-editor. In turn, a large group of collaborators, which we have no doubt will continue to grow, act as the Scientific Committee supporting a project that aims to spread the value of the fantastic in the arts.
Blogari buruz
Tartalo artean fantasiazko gaien presentziaren inguruko interesa duten pertsonentzako foro bat da, hau da, informazioa, baliabideak, ideiak, ametsak eta ilusioak elkarbanatzeko leku bat. Gure ikuspegi transbertsalak fantasiak arte mota ezberdinetan duen presentziaren inguruko gogoetara garamatzaten gaietan sakondu nahi du. Artea modu zabalean ulertzen dugu, bere arlo guztiak gure eginez: arkitektura, eskultura, pintura, musika, literatura (poesia eta antzerkia), arte eszenikoak (dantza, opera eta zirkua), zinema, arte mediatikoak (irratia, telebista eta argazkilaritza), komikiak, arte kontzeptualak eta arte teknologikoak (adimen artifizialarekin eta bideojokoekin lotutako adierazpen berriak).
Foro honek akademikoa eta dibulgatzailea izan nahi du aldi berean, eta, horregatik, ikertzaile, akademiko, ikasle, profesional eta artearen zale amorratuek dute lekua gure espazio honetan.
Blog-aren funtzioa
Tartalok bere edukiaren dinamismoa eta erabilgarritasuna bilatzen ditu, batetik, eztabaida akademikoa sortzeko, eta, bestetik, ezagutza erabilgarria zabaltzeko. Funtsean, informazioa modu dinamiko eta erakargarrian partekatu ahal izateko. Horregatik, bloga, oro har, “Tartalo. Semana de lo Fantástico en las Artes”-i eta, bereziki, “Myth in the Arts” nazioarteko kongresuari loturik izateak foro paregabe bat sortzen du gure helburua aurrera eramateko. Beti ere erakargarri izanez zorroztasun zientifikoari uko egin gabe.

Gure historia
Tartalo 2022an jaio zen Vitoria-Gasteiz eta Madril artean, Espainian, “Tartalo. VII International Conference on Myth in the Arts” kongresuaren harira, zeinak Gasteizko (Araba) “Semana de lo Fantástico en las Artes” egituratzen duen. Kongresuak UPV/EHUko Letren Fakultatean du egoitza eta Euskal Herriko Unibertsitateko bi ikerketa-taldek antolatzen dute: REWEST (Ingeles eta Aleman Filologia eta Itzulpengintza eta Interpretazioa Saila, Letren Fakultatea) eta AKMEKA (Arte Ederren Fakultatea). Kongresuaren helburua mito zaharrak, klasikoak, modernoak eta garaikideak ahalik eta esparru artistiko gehienetan -literatura, musika, zinema, arte performatiboak eta baliabide birtualak, batzuk bakarrik izendatzearren- eta esparru teoriko ugaritatik – Kultur Ikasketak, Literatur Ikasketak, Genero Ikasketak, Feminismoa(k), Maskulinitateak, LGTBQ+ Ikasketak, Ikasketa Postkolonialak, Ekokritika, Ezintasunaren Ikasketak, Ikasketa Zinematografikoak, Azterlan Performatiboak, besteak beste – aztertzeko foro bat eskaintzea da.
Horrela, eta “Myth in the Arts” eta “Semana de lo Fantástico en las Artes” jardueren gai-zehaztasunaren ondorioz, neurrira egindako jantzi gisa sortzen da Tartalo, zeinak, gainera eta ezinbestean, modu naturalean foro lanak egiten dituen blog bat ere eskaintzen duen.
Hasiera batean, Ortega Ventureira doktoreak sustatu eta moderatutako bloga da Tartalo, zeinaren “Mistérica Land” eta “Patrimonio Digital” blogek Tartalo edukiz elikatzeko balio duten hasierako fase honetan. Honek Montero Gilete doktorearen laguntza du abentura honetan, koeditore gisa. Era berean, kolaboratzaile talde handi bat, zalantzarik gabe zabaltzen joango dena, Batzorde Zientifiko gisa dabil arteetan fantastikoaren balioa hedatu nahi duen proiektu hau bermatuz.
